Calling all C355 Owners

4/10/2011

We commissioned our boat, C355 Hull #6, aka Tenacious, on January 17, 2011 and have loved every moment of ownership.  Along the way, we've learned a few things about the boat's systems.  We've made a few adjustments and "improvements" to meet our personal wants and needs.  We've discovered that it is a fast boat that should be highly competitive in our small club PHRF racing activities.

As we search for the best avenue to host a discussion board with threads,. feel free to make comments or ask questions in the comments section and we'll answer or search for the answer!

Congradulations.

I believe I was the first person to order a new 355. I actually signed my purchase agreement on Oct 2/10.

My boat arrived in Canada on Feb. 2/11. She is hull number 14. She officially got wet yesterday and had the mast put up this morning. Full commissioning should be completed next week.

She is the only 355 on Lake Ontario at this point in time and I am looking forward to getting acquainted with her.

Please keep me apprised of the new 355 site.

Hope you enjoy your new boat.

Congratulations Douglas! I bought hull #17 and am eagerly awaiting commissioning. I have been in contact with Ed and Diane who have been gracious enough to get some of us new owners connected. I would love to stay in contact with you and other owners so we can begin sharing our experiences!

regards,

Congrats to both of you! I have number 029. Coincidentally, when I was ordering mine, it was Doug's boat that I was shown. So there's more than one on Lake Ontario now! I look forward to a workable discussion group.

Hi Folks

I need help!

We currently own a Catalina 309 which I enjoy sailing in windy Buzzards Bay, Ma. My wife wants a larger boat with more storage and more comfortable accommodations. The 355 has caught our attention but I think a used Catalina 36 makes more sense for us who are in our late 60's. We previously owned a Sabre 38 and then downsized to an Alerion 28 but my wife missed the cruising life with the bigger boat. So we thinking about going bigger again.

I'd be interested in some biased feedback why we should upgrade to the 355.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Joe

I am in the process of trying to make up my mine about purchasing 355. I will be sailing on Lake Ontario for the most part. I noticed in your splash photos you went with the fin keel. I was wondering why you made that selection.

Lee,

My husband, Ed, spent countless weekends in our early marriage sailing with PHRF racing groups. Therefore, the Catalina 355 was a perfect match for my desire for comfort and his desire for performance.

Boats with fin keels point a little higher and sail a little faster. Since we sail on a deep-water inland lake, depth of keel wasn't an issue, thus we selected the fin keel. (The C-355 with fin keel option is 6'10".)

Feel free to join our Catalina 355 e-mail group to communicate with other owners. We have a couple members with 355s already sailing on Lake Ontario.

Thanks Diane. I understand the factors that entered into your decision. When I have made my decision I will look into joining your Catalina 355 e-mail group.

I sail my new C355 hull #148 in the Peconic Bay, Long Island, New York. I have the 4.5Ft.draft wing keel. I'm curious what PHRF ratings others have gotten for their C355?
